The Red Sox and Cubs are the only two teams to send 7 players to the All-Star game. Cubs catcher Geovany Soto is the first rookie catcher ever in the NL and Kosuke Fukodome is the first rookie outfielder since Frank Robinson in 1956. The other NL teams each have two players named to the team. Other Cubs named are Alfonso Soriano, who is soon to come off the DL after a hand injury, Aramis Ramirez and pitchers, Carlos Zambrano, Ryan Dempster and Kerry Wood. Wood is in rare company, along with Rich Goassage, Dennis Eckersley and John Smoltz to be named to the squad as a starter and a closer.
The Red Sox had four starters voted in by fans: Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. Added reserves are Jonathan Papelbon, Jason Varitek and J.D. Drew.

I am shocked Derek Lee wasn't picked.
And I am also shocked that Geovani Soto was...
love the cubs, been a fan forever, but how in the world can fukudome be an all star. that is a joke. he is a good player but pat burrell should be starting over him. also derek lee isnt an all star and im not surprised at all-pujols, gonzalez, and berkman are all better choices. soto deserves it and he has arguably been the best run producing catcher in the league and his defense has been stellar as well.
Japanese fan's made Fukudome an allstar, the players respect and see how valuable Tek is, but that being said Tek would probalby be the first to tell you he doesnt deserve it so I dont have to. He is the top game caller and handler of a staff in the majors.
As a Phillies fan, it is good to see the Cubs finally up there. With the Phillies aside as usual I would not mind to see the Cubs end their drought this season.
