Rob Neyer via blog wrote about the arrival of third base prospect Chris Coghlan and how it will impact Emilio Bonifacio, who is hitting .250 on the year. Bonifacio got off to hot start, but fell quickly and is hitting just .194 this month. Coghlan, on the other hand, is tearing up the minor leagues with a .348 average and 12 extra base hits. The Marlins are a half game back in the division, and hope Coghlan will provide them with the power bat they are missing in the middle of that lineup.
More importantly, Bonifacio is bringing nothing to the table so there is really no risk in bringing up Coghlan, 23, who owns a .298 batting average over the course of his minor league career.
