Padres Shopping Kouzmanoff

Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times says in a recent article that the Padres have expressed a willingness to move third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff. Kouzmanoff would fill the void left by Aramis Ramirez, who will be out for six to eight weeks after separating his shoulder. Kouzmanoff is hitting .236 with 4 home runs in 42 games this season, and is a .260 career hitter.

Kouzmanoff shouldn't cost more than a pitching prospect or two, but I doubt the Cubs make a move for him. Even though the Cubs appear to be falling apart, it looks like they will ride this out and hope for a second half resurgence of Aramis Ramirez. Both Milton Bradley and Geovanny Soto have shown no signs of a turnaround, and Derek Lee is hitting just .248 with 5 home runs. It might be time to get Jake Peavy. It might be time to call up Jake Fox. If the Cubs do not turn things around this homestand, there should be some changes to the roster.

Jake Fox is being called up when the cubs play in AL parks and will be used as a DH

I'm afraid the Cubs are going to be in some trouble until after the break. What's amazing to me is the fact that their only 4.5 back after losing 7 straight. Hopefully they're getting their worst ball out of the way early. Lee, Soto, Bradley, and Fontenot all need to pick it up. Also I think Lou needs to have a major meltdown, call a few players out, just all around shake up of the team/lineup.

I agree it is time to shake things up at least a little bit.

From what I heard from other media outlets the cubs are going after

Dan Uggla, Jorge Cantu. or Kevin Kouzmanoff.

They are dangling DAvid Patton and Neal cotts around but that would be enough to get Kouzmanoff, Don't think it is enough to land Cantu, or Uggla

I can tell you right now, the Cubs are not seriously pursuing any of them. As for dangling David Patton or Neal Cotts, teams will wait for them to be released rather than work out a trade.

I don't know what "media outlets" you read/listen/watch, but the Cubs are not going after any of those guys.

I still think we need peavy with all these injuries to our starting pitching. Then see if the offense comes back around when aramis and derek come back. Jake fox also needs to be plugged into the lineup some way some how.
