Three Way Trade in The Works?
According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles were planning on trading Rodrigo Lopez to the Nationals, Ryan Church (option) to the Tigers, and Marcus Thames to Baltimore. Other teams pursuing Lopez are the Mets, Rangers, Phillies, and Brewers. The Orioles feel they must turn to trades because their chances of signing Luis Gonzalez are becoming slim. The Orioles are also pursuing Jay Payton if they lose out on Gonzalez. They also acquired Freddy Bynum from the Cubs for a PTBNL. The Orioles are also talking about trading minor league prospect Val Majewski to the Marlins for outfielder Eric Reed.
