Red Sox Lowball Matsuzaka?

According the Boston Herald, the Red Sox initial offer to Daisuke Matsuzaka offended Scott Boras and his client. Boras wants 15 million over three years when the Red Sox offered 7-8 million. They have until December 15 to work out a deal and they will have to compromise on price and years. Boras wants a three year deal, while the Red Sox are looking more at a 5 or 6 year deal.

lol... it's because they're broke from bidding $51.1 mil on him. I can see the Devil Rays doing the exact opposite with Akinori, they pulled a rabbit out of a hat on that one and now they have money to get him a nice contract.

This is beginning to smell like a "blocking" bid by the Bosox.....wonder if Buddy boy will weigh in on it if no deal is reached.

Matsuzaka is making about 3 million per year in Japan. So if he gets 8 million per year he shouldn't be offended. If Boston offers him a decent 5 year deal (say 50 million) and he doesn't take it--he will go back to Japan with his tail between his legs and his old team will lose the 51 million dollars. I imagine they will be mighty pissed.

yeah, i think they will reach a deal. matsuzaka wants to pitch here, so he will tell boras to accept there last desperate offer. I say a three year 35-40 million dollar offer.
