The Mariners, Phillies, Cardinals, Mets, and Rangers are all looking into signing this guy. Although he only made 13 starts, he is expected to
receive a 3 to 4 year deal. He will probably have to accept something with incentives and options because of his lack of pitching last year. The Mariners are currently looking at his medical records as they prepare to make a bid. Eaton, along with
Suppan, Marquis, Lilly, and
Meche, highlight the second tier pitchers behind
Zito and Schmidt. I think the teams that he is drawing interest from are hoping he can return to his 2005 form. In 2005, Eaton went 11-5 with a 4.27 ERA and struck out 100 batters and pitched 128.2 innings. The year before, he pitched 199.1 innings going 11-14 with a 4.61 ERA.
