Why shouldn't he? With there power numbers and great pitching he would be the iceing on the cake. He was able to out pitch most teams on the A's, imagine him in the NL, for the first time. He went 16-10 with Oakland with 3.83 ERA and 151 strikeouts. He would be playing teams like Washinton, Florida, and Atlanta most of the season, all teams that would struggle by never seeing him. If he comes to the NL, I see him getting 20 wins, an ERA under 3.00, and close to 200 stikeouts. The factor is such as players have never seen that nasty curve, combined with his fastball, they will be stunned. Watching hours of tape could not help you. If Zito comes to the NL, he will lead and dominate whatever team he is on. The Mets will not just have exclusive rights with him, they have just shown interest. Other teams that have contacted Boras about him are the Cubs, Yankees, Rangers, Padres, Mariners, Cardinals, Dodgers, and Angels. However, Boras has said that Zito will only pitch on the West Coast or New York. So the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Padres, Angels, and Mariners, and possibly the Rangers are the only teams he will consider. If the rumor is false about Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Rangers, expect John Daniels to actively pursue Zito.
My Guess: Mets
