According to Ken Rosenthal, the Rockies are upset with their free agent pitching acquisitions and plan to be very aggressive this off season. While it is almost certain that the Rockies will trade Garrett Atkins to make room for Ian Stewart, the true question is whether or not they will trade Matt Holliday. If the Rockies are to trade both Atkins and Holliday, they could strategically trade for prospects to help them across the board. In one trade, they could focus on solid pitching while in the other they could focus on some infield and outfield prospects.
With that said, the Braves are good match for Holliday. Not only do have solid position prospects to trade, but they have the pitching to match the Rockies needs. If they were to trade Kelly Johnson, as well as an outfield prospect and a pair of low level pitching prospects, they could easily land Holliday and still have a competitive team. A couple names that come to mind as prospects the Rockies would like include Thomas Hanson, Gorkys Hernandez, and Kyle Cofield.
