Mets Decline Wagner's Option
According to Scott Schoeneweis, the Mets have told closer Billy Wagner that they will decline his 8 million dollar option for 2010. In 45 games this season, Wagner is 0-1 with a 2.30 ERA with 27 SV and 52 strikeouts. Wagner has said he wants to pitch again, despite being 38 at the start of the 2010 season. Nonetheless, he should get an incentive base contract wherever he signs. At this point in time, it is too soon to look at possible options for Wagner, but I'm sure several teams will look to give the All-Star closer a shot.
