The Mets are closing in on a deal that would send Brian Bannister to the Royals for Ambiorix Burgos. Burgos, 22, was 4-5 with a 5.52 ERA last season for the Royals in 73 1/3 innings. Bannister pitched in eight games for the Mets in 2006, going 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA. Burgos will probably come into spring training without a spot on the roster.

The Mets are closing in on a deal that would send Brian Bannister to the Royals for Ambiorix Burgos. Burgos, 22, was 4-5 with a 5.52 ERA last season for the Royals in 73 1/3 innings.
