The Royals signed David Riske to a one year contract. Riske went 1-2 with a 3.89 ERA and 28 K with the Red Sox and White Sox. They also signed
Zach Day and
Brandon Duckworth to minor league deals and invited them to spring training. Day went 2-5 with a 6.75 ERA while Duckworth went 1-5 with a 6.11 ERA. The Royals bullpen will be pretty good coming into 2007; With the signing of
Octavio Dotel and
David Riske, they now have a experienced bullpen which will be able to support their rotation.

i will wait to see it on ESPN, but if this is true great. I completely agree with u btw about the bullpen. they now have expierence will benefit them with the young rotation
i agree, good insight
Great deal. John Bale is also pretty much a lock for the bullpen too, though. Probably Braun starts in AAA.
I disagree and take this from an Indians fan, Riske is terribly overrated and he gives up too many home runs. I look at Joel Peralta becoming their righty setup pitcher when the season ends and Riske will have around a 4.00 ERA.
Here's the real bullpen from a die hard Royals fan:
CL Dotel
SU Riske
Bale
Wellemeyer
Soria
Peralta
Gobble
I can almost guarantee Dotel, Riske, Bale, and Soria will be in the bullpen. Wellemeyer, Peralta, Gobble, and Joe Nelson are guys who I'm not sure what we'll do with it seems we have good options to choose from and someone may end up losing a job who deserves a shot elsewhere unless we make a deal. Soria will be in our bullpen, trust me on that one, we're really high on him and he has good potential.
I never thought about Bale, but I think Riske's best option is a middle relief. Believe me, he is not a setup guy or a closer. He gives up way too many home runs, and you can never count on him when he pitches an extra inning game.
It's Joel Peralta. Other than that, good post.
