The Diamondbacks have interest in signing starting pitcher David Wells for the 2007 season. Wells, who planned to call it quits after 2006, is now reconsidering. The Diamondbacks would be a great fit for Wells. New bench coach Kirk Gibson and Wells are great friends and former teammates. They also own a ranch together in Michigan. In 2006, he went 3-5 with a 4.42 ERA and 38 K. However, combining the previous four years, he has a record of 61-29 with a 4.01 ERA.
