Dodgers Close To Landing Cabrera

The Dodgers are very close to landing Miguel Cabrera, according to major league sources. It is believed that the deal includes Matt Kemp, Andy LaRoche, and pitcher Clayton Kershaw. However, the two sides are apart on one part of the deal, and I think it is over money. It is possible the Dodgers want cash if they are parting with three top prospects, and that seems reasonable. The Angels are also in negotiations with the Marlins, but no players have been named. If the Dodgers trade Kemp, they will probably look to sign Hunter or Rowand. They are also showing interest in Tadahito Iguchi, but only if Jeff Kent does not come back. More details on this scenario as more unfolds.

What are the dodgers thinking? asking the Marlins for Cash!? They have a mid 30 million payroll. With Cabrera I'm sure the Dodgers can land another decent OF and i think their find in 2B with Abreu.

this is great news for a Giants fan who wants Brian Sabean fired. He can't do anything to help the Giants in 2 years if this happens.

Cabrera is good, but overwieght. I would not sell the house for him, unless you are getting the player from two years ago. He is more suited for the AL and the occassional DH spot to let him rest.

Could your sources be more vague and unfounded?

Seems as though every time I hear that the Dodgers are close to signing someone we could use something get's in the way. I guess that's how baseball works. I personally would not give the Marlins Kershaw and I think if they trade Kemp it will come back and bite them in the ass.

Well, they ain't signing Hunter, because he just went to the Angels of So Cal of North Orange County for 5/80 mil.

The Dodgers would be stupid to include both Kemp AND Kershaw in any package for Cabrera who is due for FA after 2009

The Angel deal would appear to be the best since the Marlins would be getting 4 for 1...if the Angels throw in Juan Rivera who just became expendable after the acquisition of Tori Hunter.
