-It appears the Rockies have been awarded waiver claims to veteran pitcher Livan Hernandez.
-According to the New York Post, Joba Chamberlain is scheduled to have his shoulder evaluated by Dr. James Andrews. This is very bad news for Yankees fans as it likely indicates a serious injury or befuddlement on the part of the Yankees medical staff. Ian Kennedy will be called up to replace Chamberlain in the rotation.
-The Mariners have designated 2b Jose Vidro for assignment. Vidro was hitting .340 since the all-star break and it wouldn't be surprising to see him picked up by a contender for the final stretch of the season.
