Washburn to Yankees?

According to Buster Olney, Mariners pitcher Jarrod Washburn has been placed on waivers. Washburn has been struggling as of late losing three of his last four starts, so he might be hard to trade. Not to mention that he has twenty million dollars left on his contract that expires next season. Washburn is 5-11 with a 4.76 ERA and 75 K in twenty three games this season, but he still has some value on the market. Not only has he played in the AL his whole career, but he has playoff experience, something contenders would love to have right now.

With that said, will the Yankees take a look at Jarrod Washburn? Joba Chamberlain is out with a shoulder injury that some have been comparing to Kerry Wood's injury about eight years ago. Both are young flame throwing pitchers who have been overworked in their first year in the big leagues. Bringing in Washburn and shutting down Chamberlain for the rest of the season would prevent Chamberlain from serious injury and give them a veteran arm that might give them an extra win or two.
