Would The Mets Sign Pudge?

According to Mark Healy, the Mets would be smart to sign Ivan Rodriguez this offseason. Schneider hit .257 this season and did a pretty good job handling the staff. However, bringing in a veteran like Pudge would give the Mets a much needed leader, as well as someone who can handle the pitching staff. In a lineup like the Mets, you really don't need a catcher who is going to put up big numbers. If Pudge comes in and can handle the young pitchers and work closely with the veterans, the Mets should be able to get into the playoffs.

Aside from Rodriguez, it is important that the Mets add bullpen depth as well as depth on the bench. Someone like Daryle Ward or Martin Prado would really help that club.

Pudge isn't much of a leader, it only took what? 1-2 starts before both Mussina and Pettite had enough of him?

Well, its strange, he had a lot of success with the Tigers , and Marlins catching for teams that went to the WS...won it all with the Marlins. Did he jus become awful? Mussina and Pettite haven't won a big game in years.
