Alex Gonzalez to Sign With Reds; Mueller Retires

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSPORTS.com, the Reds and SS Alex Gonzalez are close to agreeing on a three year, 15 million dollar deal. On Thursday, it appeared that it was between the White Sox and Reds for Gonzalez. Well, a new report suggests that the Reds are in serious discussions and a deal could be done before Thanksgiving break. In other news, Bill Mueller was forced to retire after battling a bad knee injury. However, he will not be far from the Dodgers as he will be an assistant GM to Ned Colletti. The 35-year-old Mueller finishes his career with a .291/.373/.425 line, 85 homers and 493 RBI in 11 major league seasons.
