Quick Hits: Tigers, Martinez, Weathers, Tazawa

Quick Hits:
  • According to Ann Arbor News, the Tigers are exploring all possibilities at shortstop, and have contacted the Padres about Khalil Greene and the Red Sox about Julio Lugo. Nate Robertson appears to be the guy most likely to go in either trade.
  • The Mets are interested in bringing back Pedro Martinez, but at a reduced price. Martinez is looking for an opportunity, and several teams will probably give the veteran a one or two year deal. The Nationals would likely consider giving Martinez a shot, as would the Tigers, who are looking for help at the bottom end of the rotation. Another possibility is the Padres, who are looking for a stopgap while some of their younger prospects improve.
  • Free agent reliever Dave Weathers is drawing interest from the Giants, according to the SF Chronicle.
  • The Indians and Tigers have sent scouts to meet with free agent Junichi Tazawa, who is drawing interest from at least 15 teams.
