Report: Giants Sign Renteria

According to WFAN in New York, the Giants and Edgar Renteria have agreed to a two year deal worth 18 million dollars. Renteria might bounce back by returning to the NL, but one look at his numbers and you can tell that he is on the decline. He hit .270 and his OBP was done thirty points from his career average. However, Renteria is an All Star shortstop with playoff experience, so he should be a leader in the clubhouse and out on the field.

The Giants will likely pull out of talks with Rafael Furcal, making the Athletics the favorite to sign him.

UPDATE: Rafael Furcal's agent Paul Kinzer has denied the report and said that talks with the Giants and his client are ongoing.
