Bako To Twins?'s Ken Rosenthal speculates that Paul Bako could be a fit for the Twins. Mike Redmond, currently filling in for the injured Joe Mauer, suffered a right groin strain earlier this week and could be out for an extended amount of time. Bako isn't the best offensive catcher, but he is one of the top defensive catchers and would be a good mentor for both Joe Mauer and Jose Morales.

Oh, could we get over the 'good mentor' argument for weak hitting backup catchers, already? Yes, catcher is a thinking man's position, and yes, Paul Bako has a lot of experience and seems to call a good game, but Joe Mauer has been around for a while, and is approaching Bako's experience level in terms of actual innings caught. I don't think he needs a 'mentor' anymore.
