Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez could be headed to the disabled list after leaving yesterday's game with a strained calf muscle. Ramirez has always been a pretty fragile player, leaving games early or taking a day off. It wasn't really a problem in the eyes of Cubs fans last year, mostly because Mark DeRosa was there to fill in. However, the Cubs traded DeRosa and now have Aaron Miles ready to take over.
If Ramirez goes on the DL, the Cubs could turn to Jake Fox or Bobby Scales in Triple-A Iowa, or they could stick with Miles and instead call up a pitcher to help the struggling bullpen. Guys like Jose Ascanio, Randy Wells or Greg Reinhard, all of whom are off to good starts at Triple-A, could be options.
