Braves pitcher Tom Glavine told reporters that he may retire if his left shoulder doesn't improve in the next two weeks. "I'm willing to put in a little more time but I'm not willing to put in another six weeks or eight weeks because by then, you know what, I'm going to have to start all over again and I'm not interested in doing that," he said. Glavine went 2-4 with a 5.54 ERA last season, but 13 games the year before and has 305 career wins.
I do not think losing Glavine will have a major impact on the Braves in 2009, but it will be sad to see him go. If the inflammation doesn't get better in two weeks, the Braves might be forced to consider calling up Tommy Hanson.
