The MLB Network is reporting that the Nationals and Joe Beimel have agreed to a one year deal worth 2 million dollars. Beimel, 31, posted a 2.02 ERA in 71 games last season for the Dodgers. He will be the set up man for the Nationals, giving them a solid group of late inning relievers. To make room for Beimel, the Nationals released Shawn Hill. Hill had a 5.83 ERA last season, but Acta said it was the hardest decision he had to make while in Washington.
Hill will likely get picked up on a minor league deal, perhaps by the Padres, who drafted him back in 1999.
