The Padres announced today that 25-year old reliever Mark Worrell will undergo surgery on his throwing shoulder and will miss the entire 2009 season. Worrell, who was 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA last season, had a 2.15 ERA in 52 games last season in Triple-A Memphis. Losing Worrell hurts the already weak Padres bullpen, possibly leading to a trade for the Cubs' Angel Guzman or other out of options pitchers.
