The Angels have waived pitching prospect Nick Green, 24, who went 8-8 with a 5.32 ERA in 28 games at Triple-A. The move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster, possibly for an outfielder. ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick is reporting that the Angels and Bobby Abreu are in serious discussions concerning a one year deal. Abreu could be the biggest steal this offseason, and the Angels jumped in at the perfect moment.
Green doesn't project into being an ace any time soon, but he could make for a decent back end of the rotation starter in the NL. The Braves, Nationals, Cardinals, and Padres could all look to add the right hander.
