Padres Dealing Top Prospect?

The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that the Padres may attempt to deal first baseman Kyle Blanks. Blanks, who is 6-feet-6-inches, hit .325 in Double-A last season with 20 HR and a .404 OBP. He is starting to find his power and could really be a threat in the major leagues as early as 2010. However, the Padres already have an All-Star first baseman in Adrian Gonzalez, and Blanks doesn't play any other positions.

If Blanks gets off to a hot start at Triple-A, the Padres could look to move him for a pitching prospect.
