The Mets and Oliver Perez have agreed to a three year deal worth 36 million dollars, Ken Rosenthal is reporting. Perez was originally offered eleven million dollars for three years, but the Mets are happy with the deal because they feel they will have him during his prime. Perez has a 2.06 ERA against the Phillies over the past two seasons, and is just twenty-seven years old.
The Mets will consider signing Pedro Martinez, but may use their remaining money to bring in a hitter, most likely an outfielder.
