Giants Interested In Crede

The Giants are showing interest in free agent third baseman Joe Crede, who's been hit with back injuries over the past two seasons. Jon Heyman of SI.com says the Giants remain interested in Crede after reviewing his medical records and appear to be the front-runner for his services. Crede hit .248 with 17 HR in 97 games for the White Sox last season, but is a career .289 hitter in 45 postseason at-bats. The Giants are aggressively pursuing Crede because they believe he can produce, similar to the way Bill Mueller did for the Red Sox after he left the Giants.

Sources have informed me that the Giants have had interest in Hank Blalock for a long time, and at this point, will have payroll room to sign him next offseason if he becomes a free agent.
