Free agents Juan Uribe and Mike Sweeney have signed minor league deals, FOXSports.com is reporting. Uribe, who hit .247 with 7 HR for the White Sox last season, will join the Giants as a possible utility player. Uribe was a little better after hit .209 through May, but he is not guarantee to make the team.
Sweeney, who hit .286 with 2 HR for the A's last season, will compete for the DH spot with the Mariners. He is a career .299 hitter, but doesn't appear to have much left. If he can stay healthy, he may make for a decent pinch hitter. New Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu was with the Athletics last season, that might be the best thing going for Sweeney at this point.
