Quick Hits: Reyes, Garcia, Kawakami, Day

Quick Hits:
  • The A's, Mets, Dodgers are interested in free agent pitchers Dennys Reyes. Reyes, who went 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA in 75 games for the Twins, still has solid command and would help a lot of bullpens. Reyes, 31, will probably command a two or three year deal.
  • SI.com's Jon Heyman is reporting that Freddy Garcia is being pursued by the Mets, White Sox, and Rangers. The Mets do not really have a spot for him at this point, so the White Sox make a lot of sense. However, he may be intrigued by joining the Rangers and being apart of their experimental conditioning program for their pitchers.
  • MASN Sports is reporting that despite signing Koji Uehara, the Orioles are still pursuing free agent pitcher Kenshin Kawakami. Teams are dropping out of the Kawakami race in pursuit of other pitchers, so the Orioles could be the favorite.
  • The Rays claimed Dewon Day off waivers from the Red Sox. The Rays have had success with working with erratic pitchers, and could do that with Day. He has a good fastball, which he compliments with an overwhelming slider. If he can command those pitchers better, he could be an X-factor out of the pen.
