The Padres and Henry Blanco have agreed to a one year deal worth 750,000 dollars, ESPN.com is reporting. The Cubs reportedly backed off Blanco because they thought he was going to be too pricey! Blanco is one of the top backup catchers in the league, who did happen to hit .292 with 3 HR in 58 games this past season. The Padres signing of Blanco will likely bring back the Jake Peavy rumors, considering that Blanco did handle most of the pitching staff over the course of the season.

I Agree 110 Percent

Huh?
The Padres could go after some of the young Cubs pitchers and know they have a back up veteran catcher who is familiar with them and knows there strengths...i thought it made sense.
eli, explain it to us like we are five....
ya, I'm sure the padres got a below-average backup catcher for a Jake Peavy deal after they couldn't get their first target, Brad Ausmus
Listen, I'm saying from a speculative standpoint. It could just be a plus on the Padres part if they were to make a move...
