Dodgers Release Jones

The Dodgers have finally cut ties with CF Andruw Jones. In 75 games this season, Jones hit .158 with 3 HR before finally ending the season on the bench. The Dodgers owe Jones 21.1 million dollars that he will receive over the next six years.

It will be interesting to see if Jones gets picked up anywhere. The most he could get is a one year deal, with a low base salary plus incentives. He is a tough sell, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Juan Pierre and Andruw Jones: two of the worst free agent signings that I can remember, and both to fill a single position on one team. The Dodgers must have a dump-truck full of money somewhere. I don't know much about the Dodgers front office, but if the same guy made both of these deals, he deserves to be put out to pasture.

Jones will get picked up by somebody. He's worth the risk at $2 million, not $30 million.
