Sorry for the delay on posts everyone, I was traveling all day yesterday with my family and the airline lost our bags. Talk about a poor start to a vacation:
- David Wright, Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, and Mark DeRosa all accepted WBC Team USA invites, joining Grady Sizemore and Ryan Braun on the team thus far.
- The Yankees and Chien-Ming Wang have agreed to a one year deal worth five million dollars. Wang went 8-2 with a 4.07 ERA, and if he can prove that he can stay healthy, he will probably get a long term deal next offseason. Wang, who isn't eligible for free agency until 2011, is 54-20 with a 3.79 ERA in 97 appearances (95 starts).
- MLB.com is reporting that the Nationals have upped their offer to Mark Teixeira. The deal, which reportedly holds options that could take it to ten years, is worth somewhere betweeen 178-184 million dollars for eight years. It's risky, but signing Teixeira bodes well for future negotiations, not to mention a leader in their young clubhouse. Many, including myself, expect Boras to go back to the Angels or Red Sox to get a deal done.
