Tigers Acquire Laird

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Tigers have agreed to trade catcher Gerald Laird to the Tigers for Guillermo Moscosco and a second prospect. The second prospect is believed to be a seventeen year old, sources told Rosenthal. Laird is still two years from free agency, so he is pretty solid pickup for the Tigers. This is bad news for Jason Varitek, who declined arbitration early today.

It is very possible he will stay with the Red Sox anyways, now that Jarrod Saltalamachhia isn't going anywhere.
