According to one AL executive, free agent outfielder Willy Taveras is drawing more interest than originally expected. Taveras, who hit .251 with 1 HR with 68 SB in 133 games for the Rockies, was nearly traded to the Nationals during the Winter Meetings. Now, the Nationals, with at least five other teams, are in contact with Taveras.
The Reds and Nationals have made it known of their interest, while the White Sox may target him to platoon in center.
