According to Ken Rosenthal, the Royals may pursue free agent reliever Kyle Farnsworth. Farnsworth, who is from Wichita, is the type of reliever the Royals need. They traded away Leo Nunez and Ramon Ramirez, and need to bring in a setup man to bridge the gap between the middle innings and Joakim Soria. Farnsworth was 2-3 with a 4.48 ERA in 61 games for for the Tigers and Yankees, and may be intrigued by a playing for a rising team in the same division. Not only that, but Royals pitching coach Bob McClure has had success with hard throwing relievers, making Kansas City a serious possibility for Farnsworth.
Farnsworth, 32, is looking at a three year deal worth 5-7 million dollars annually.
